Wendy’s Wonderful Kids!
Often time consumers only see the daily operations of corporations and they aren’t aware of the corporate social responsibility many corporations have established.
The Wendy’s Corporation has provided great quality food to feed families for decades. The corporation’s founder, Mr. Dave Thomas, built Wendy’s reputation as a business that supplied quality food products.
Because of Thomas’ commitment to provide the best products and service to Wendy’s customers, his dream has grown into a competitive and thriving corporation. Not only was Dave Thomas a smart businessman, he was also and adoptee who, through the Wendy’s Corporation, developed the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to help children.
In 1992 Thomas established the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (DTFA). Wendy’s website states, “The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption awards grants to public and private adoption agencies to hire adoption professionals who implement proactive, child-focused recruitment programs targeted exclusively on moving America’s longest-waiting children from foster care into adoptive families.”
Before his death on Jan. 8, 2002, Thomas had spoken before congress about tax credits and adoption legislation. He also lent his star power to help create public service announcements about adoption. He was a true champion for children adoption and positioned his company, Wendy’s, to champion his cause.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption continues is pursuit to help children in the adoption process with the help of Wendy’s Wonderful Recruiters. The adoptee professionals, known as Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiters work aggressively to help place children forgotten in the system with loving, giving and nurturing families forever. The Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiters in the United States have helped place over 3,224 children with loving adoptive families forever. The U.S. currently has 159 Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiters.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption also promotes a workplace toolkit that encourages employers to make their workplace an adoption-friendly workplace by proposing adoption benefits for employees. If you yourself are thinking about foster care adoption, the website provides a step-by-step guide to adoption. Dave even has the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Kickball for a Home program where teams that have organized kickball games in their neighborhoods have raised over $55,000 to date to help the DTFA.
